New Counties Join Hurricane Ike Disaster Declaration


AUSTIN, Texas — Four additional Texas counties - Anderson, Bowie, Leon and Milam - have been added to the Sept. 13 federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Ike, making local governments, tribal governments and certain private nonprofits in those areas eligible to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance.

FEMA Completes 97 Percent of Inspections on Damaged Homes
AUSTIN, Texas — Inspectors contracted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are making great progress toward completing inspections of homes damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Ike. To date they have completed more than 350,000 inspections, or 97 percent of the requests submitted by homeowners and renters.
