More Lab Openings! “VMware Datacenter Technology Preview”


There are still openings in the K/L lab - “VMware Datacenter Technology Preview”. If you have not attended your 2 labs, sign in to schedule builder and sign up or just show up. It is taking place in Palazzo Ballroom E. The sessions that are available run at 9:30 - 11:30; 1:00p - 3:00p and 3:30p - 5:30p Wed & Thu.

Fault Tolerance - ‘wow’ feature; bad name
Sateesh: it’s like lockstep but done in software, rather than a continuous copy. It will mirror execution, so if your OS on the primary guest crashes, backup will crash the exact same way. The FT solution doesn’t change software reliability (similar to other HW FT solutions, I would imagine). Your HA example is not really apples to apples, as HA loses state whereas FT doesn’t lose any state. You can use VMware Fault Tolerance in conjunction with VMware HA, though.
