New Washington Parish Maps To Go Into Effect
DENTON, TEXAS — Parish residents and business owners who do not have flood insurance are encouraged to buy coverage now to get the best possible premiums before new flood insurance rate maps go into effect.
Calhoun County Flood Risk Open House To Take Place Dec. 1
CHICAGO, Ill. — Representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, will host a flood risk information open house for Calhoun County residents on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Calhoun County Building, 3rd floor, Board of Commissioners’ Chambers, 315 W. Green St. in Marshall, Mich. Newly released preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps will be displayed so residents can learn about their risk of flooding and how this will affect their lives and property. Those interested may drop in at any time during the event to discuss mapping issues with MDEQ representatives.
FEMA Awards King County $1.5 Million To Acquire Repetitively Flooded Properties
SEATTLE, Wash. — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated $1,118,672 in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding to Washington State for acquiring the Riverside Mobile Home Park in the City of Snoqualmie. According to Acting FEMA Regional Administrator Dennis Hunsinger, HMPG funds may be used to protect either public or private property, or to purchase property that has been subjected to, or is in danger of, repetitive damage.
Georgia Disaster Grants Should Be Used For Intended Purpose
ATLANTA, Ga. — Disaster recovery officials urge recipients of federal grants to keep receipts and other documentation for at least three years as proof the funds were spent as intended.
